This is an investment. It's not a smartphone you get rid off, and i plan on keeping this device for a very long time. The sound is amazing and am always listening with the Equalizer on.

First, I want to call out the great service I always get from MusicTech. They are thorough, knowledgable, and super-helpful.

Hiby is the leader in the DAP market for a reason. I am very happy with this device. It is large and feels premium.

Sound-wise, the R8 II delivers a warm-neutral signature with:

Punchy, controlled bass
Detailed, natural midrange
Smooth, well-extended treble
Excellent soundstage and imaging

Some observations I have...

I would like to see a leather case option like they have for the rs2. I would also prefer a volume wheel as opposed to the side buttons the r8 ii has. The buttons are really easy to engage by accident while handling this thing. I am confident I will get used to the button config.

It looks as beautiful as it sounds, every part of the sound is rich, full and detailed. I dont ever feel like im missing anything when listening to the r8ii. The display is nice and big and surprisingly responsive, compared to the A&K se300 which is the same price but feels like using a phone from 2011… the hiby R8 II, is a superb sound, aesthetic, and sturdy dap, that gets two big thumbs up from this guy👍👍
